Departure day guide

Follow these steps for a smooth departure and a warm welcome for the next guest.

Check-out guide

  • Check-out time on departure day is 12:00 PM.
  • Pack all your belongings. Check under beds and sofas too.
  • Empty the fridge of food.
  • Wash the dishes. The dishwasher may stay on when you leave — we will empty it for you.
  • Take rubbish to the bin and remove empty bottles and cans.
  • Return furniture to its original places.
  • Make sure the yard is tidy and outdoor items are in place. Clean the grill if you used it.
  • If anything was damaged, let us know by email or via the contact form.
  • If you rented linens from us, strip the beds and leave them in a neat pile in the hallway.
  • Complete final cleaning as below. If you booked cleaning with us, you can skip this section.
  • Return the cottage key as instructed — thank you.

Final cleaning if you clean yourself

Final cleaning is usually included in the price. If you agreed to clean yourself, please follow the instructions below.

Kitchen

  • Wash dishes and put them away dry in the cupboards.
  • Empty waste bins and clean the bin and cupboard.
  • Empty and clean the fridge and freezer.
  • Clean the stove, oven and microwave.
  • Check the coffee maker, kettle and toaster.
  • Turn off washing machine and dishwasher taps.

Other rooms

  • Return furniture to its original places.
  • Shake rugs and bedding outside if needed.
  • Remove cold ashes from fireplaces.
  • Clean the sauna, washroom and bathroom if needed.
  • Clean the toilet, sink and mirrors.
  • Vacuum floors — including under beds, cabinets and the sofa.
  • Wipe table and counter surfaces and cabinet doors.
  • Clean windows if marked. Mop floors with a damp cloth.
  • Close all windows and doors.
  • Make beds with aired bedding and day covers.

Outdoor areas

  • Clean the grill after each use to prevent rust.
  • If a pet stayed with you, please keep the yard tidy as well.
